For the past few weeks, while Packers players have been at home listening to their Tony Robbins tapes, visualizing a season of unlimited power, Lambeau Field has been doing a little self-improvement of its own. Yes, the rumors are true: Lambeau's getting hair plugs. No, not like Nic's. The really really good kind.
It appears that the Packers lawncare braintrust has for a while been concerned about how worn out the field gets by the end of the season. The solution? A reinforced grass support system, originated in Belgium, called DD Grassmaster. According to the P-G, for the next three weeks or so, the DD Grassmaster's badass grass mastery machine will be slowly stitching tens of millions of green polyurathane fibers seven inches below the the natural turf, leaving one inch of "grass" exposed. This procedure "stabilize[s] the sand bed, strengthen[s] the root
zone and make[s] a safer and more consistent surface." In other words, it will literally create a more level playing field.
What's next on the list of important to-dos for Packer management, you ask? Install new goal posts and railing pads, upgrade the drainage system and--oh yeah--sign somebody worthwhile in the off-season.
We'll be sure to weigh in if anything exciting happens.
